FONTAINES D.C DELIVERS ANOTHER KILLER ALBUM
The Irish post-punk band’s ‘Skinty Fia’ is an impressive follow-up Dogrel, highlighting the bands rise in the past three years.
Skinty Fia is one of the standouts albums of the year. The record is open-hearted and adventurous, as the band explore their newly strained relationship with their country’s culture. Exploring the possibility of lost identity as a result of many of the band now residing in London.
BILLY GETS TRICKY
Billy Menezes is making magic cool again.
The londoner is magically appearing in all different places to spellbound some biggest A-Listers around. This included Reading and Leeds Festival 2021.
Check out Billy’s collab Out n’ About film with filmmaker Louis Dobson, the teen magician runs into rappers Digga D and Slowthai, over the bank holiday. We still can’t get our head around Billy transforming Digga D’s Stella into a can Ribena….Mad.
RADIO 1 DANCE STAGE FOCUS: NIA ARCHIVES
You could argue Jungle has never left us but if it did Nia Archives is definitely leading the genre’s resurgence!
Nia Archives is making soft-hearted lo-fi jungle for introverted extroverts. Her first memories of music are deeply rooted in her Jamaican heritage; reggae and lovers rock were always on around her childhood home in Leeds, and she attended Pentecostal church regularly as a child where she was exposed to gospel music. After moving out at 16, she relocated to Manchester, where her way of getting to know people was through raves and house parties.
We’ve supplied plenty of Nia’s best tracks to the official playlist, you don’t want to miss her set this year!
