Feeling like a Grinch? These 5 things to do in Leeds will sort you right out
Listen, whether you like to admit it or not, we’re in the thick of Christmas celebrations now.
If you’re in the best city in the north for Christmas, there’s plenty to get you in the mood. If you’re feeling like a bit of a Grinch this year, get stuck into these festive offerings in Leeds.
Christkindelmarkt
Leeds boasts one of the most established German markets in the UK. Yep, you don’t have to get on a plane or a train to experience the traditional bratwurst, sweet treats and quirky seasonal gifts. It’s the perfect place to pick up a present or two you wouldn’t find on the high street and sample some of the food as you make your way around. Make your way down to Christkindelmarkt in Millennium Square until the 22nd December.
Kirgate
In the mood to shop until your drop? Kirkgate is always a winner, with over 600 stalls selling products from fresh food to make up. We recommend grabbing some local food and settling down to watch this year’s free Christmas Market Show which features Santa’s hilarious adventures as he tries to get Leeds’ presents delivered on time – there better be Leeds Fest tickets or they’ll be trouble.
Raise a tankard at THOR’s Tipi
Nestled in the heart of the city, you’ll be able to celebrate Christmas – Viking style. Once inside the tipi you’ll find cosy log fires, twinkling lights and good times. Open until 10pm, 7 days a week it’s the perfect spot to stop by for a drink after work.
Wheel of Light
It’s not Christmas in Leeds until the big wheel makes an appearance. Taking its place in Victoria Gardens for the third year running, jump on board the 110-foot Ferris wheel to see the beautiful sights. Lit up with 25,000 LED lights, this will boost your Instagram likes through the roof.
Get festive at O2 Academy Leeds
If there’s one place you can always rely on for a good time, it’s the O2 Academy. Head down on the 10th December to see Leeds Festival 2018 performers DMA’s do their thing. Looking for a bigger and better night out? Party until 3am on the 14th December with Ultimate Power – this will bring you crashing back to your late night shenanigans in Bramham Park for sure.
