The hilariously self-deprecating comedian hailing from rural Gloucestershire had everyone in stitches this afternoon at the Alternative Stage. Joel’s brand of comedy is rather rude and risqué but was delivered with that relatable and loved British style. A style that’s given him so many opportunities to be the funny man on our televisions in recent years.
The crowd was a mixed bag between those standing at the front and those seated throughout the tent hoping to kick back and have some giggles with friends. Joel was chipper throughout, with jokes about everything from venetian blinds to Tinder chat.
He also made the effort to make some music-related gags for the festival-goers; particularly ones about his love of Nu Metal, specifically Papa Roach and Crazy Town — the former set to play the festival tomorrow night at The Pit stage.
Joel has embraced his fame and the opportunities it has brought him, from drinking litres and litres of water for a Gay Times photoshoot to taking his dad out for dinner at a pitch-black restaurant. Now no longer a singleton, Joel really made everyone chuckle with their chums after revealing he proposed to his fiancée with the Jurassic Park theme song playing as he kneeled in his tux, surrounded by candles. Beautiful.
Overall a very funny set from a very funny and likeable young man!
