New album ‘Where Wildness Grows’ released this year is a triumph, and so was their performance here at Leeds on the BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage.
The morning people among us were awoken by their psychedelic brand of pop that really has that summertime, friends and festivals vibe we adore. Led by the silky soft falsetto vocals of Felix Bushe, the band opened with ‘Heroine’ before progressing onto newer material such as the wonderful ‘Before Sunrise’ from the new album. Both songs possessed crashing bridges led by reverb-riddled guitar as the band seamlessly moved from quiet to loud and vice versa.
The highlights included anthemic ‘She’s a Witch’, an absolute classic with a bopping bassline that you will not be able to get out of your head. We’re predicting bigger and better slots for Gengahr in the years to come — remember the name!
