Hailing from Onatario, Canada, the guys have been on the scene for an eternity — and still smash out songs with that same energy and infectious enjoyment from their hay-day. The band’s consistency is beyond commendable. Renowned for their extensive touring, a big stage and slot like today was the perfect fit for Sum 41.
How did they do? Well… they absolutely nailed it.
Deryck Whibley sang his heart out across a mass of hits from opener ‘The Hell Song’ to a heart-warming cover of Linkin Park’s ‘Faint’ with Mike Shinoda, closing out the set to a mammoth reception.
Guitarist Dave Baksh — aka ‘Brown Sound’ — was melting everyone’s faces with guitar solos on multiple songs, including a first-rate cover of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’. Let’s be honest, everyone loves a bit of Queen. The crowd certainly did as an inflatable skeleton reminiscent of Iron Maiden’s imagery was erected behind the band mid-song!
Beyond the clever covers, highlights were of course, ‘Fat Lip’, ‘In Too Deep’ and ‘Still Waiting. Overall, the set was all killer with absolutely no filler!
